Hi I just got three red severums from a local fish store and they are all about one inch long. Right now they look like gold severums except one of them just started to get a reddish hue on each side of his face under his eyes. I have only had them less than a week so how long will it take them to get the red lines all over their body? Oh and I am currently feeding them new life cichlid spectrum.

Depends on water change schedule and food etc. But should start to color up a bit about 4 inchs or so wit the right diet

Do you have any pictures? Where did you purchase them from?

Red severums are usually noticeably more red than golds, even at 2" in size.

But I truly believe they are reds because they had one tank labeled gold severums and a whole separate tank labeled super red severums. I even talked with the owner and he said he got a red severum a while ago and they started out looking like mine and now they are fully red. If they hit 3 inches and don't get any red coloration I'm gonna go back to the pet shop and flip sh*t.

I don't think they are super reds either but give them some time and see. Usually super reds are available from 2" and up and they are already noticeably different from golds. Super red juveniles that I've seen tend to look more pink or red than gold/orange. I've grown out a lot of gold severum fry and I noticed an immediate difference in the small super reds the day I saw them.

Post pictures again in a few months.

but ya i will pry be posting pics every few days if i remember and i guess wel see if or when they get red.
