i wouldnt pay 300 for two fish that need to be seperated by a divider.. and that males head is small because he looks close to ten inches already.. if he was gunna have something he would had it already..

haha Rick's is great

i would definitely get them if i had a tank for them, they look really good
i bet if you haggle a good bit you could get them for cheaper, because theyve been in hte store forever

humps on heads are NOT determined by size of the fish... genes, water chemistry, good food, and space usually play huge parts in KoK size.

Ive seen full adult fish with barely any kok grow one with the right changes.
It's possible.

If you look at any good flowerhorn, they will have a good hump at say 3 to four inches.. hence good genes...if it doesnt have a hump at such a large size hes not going to just sprout one over night.. Your are one hundred percent correct, genes, water chemistry, good food, and space are a must. You need to learn how to read my friend

But you dont go from Zero to hero.. you may magnify the size of the hump by a little bit but i would not expect drastic changes.. this is an example of a nice RS.. this is something worth well above 300 with a female mate. I wouldnt expect the male in the OP's post to look like this with just a water quality change..
