guys you said the largest ever caught but it doesn't mean it gets 5 feet will be 3-4 feet in aquarium and i don't see a 600 gallons being that small ...calm down i am feeding him daily and i am not going to keep him in the little 132 gallons pond...i want my fish happy ....and the pond i can get it s somewhere 85x40x40 inch it s alot of space i think....i d love to make a 2000 gallons in my garden couse i can but will froze over winter even with a heater and also heating 2000 g constantly will be a lot of electricity but let's say i can handle it but temp drops very low here

just make do with what u can :) my rtc does grow fast, but if u control the amount of food (don't over feed) when they reach 3 ft their growth slows down lots

Please don't starve ur fish thinking it will grow slower, it will only hurt him

I dont understand why you keep asking what people think when they tell you from experience that you need at least 1000 gal and you can't do it with rtc's everything is expensive pond, wc, food, filtration everthing

They are not a very active fish, so its a enough pond... Don't listen to anyone thats ur fish... Take good care of him...

Agreed 600 is like a 10 gallon for any large catfish...just set up an intex pool for under $200 with a 10' to 12' diamater 1,000 plus gallons for very cheap. Had my redtail for 7 yrs. And up to 28" i removed him from a 650 gal to a 1700 pool and the difference was night and day. They are not inactive fish, people just keep them in tiny boxes where they cant move
