Yes, you should give BOTD every once in a while, but it's clear this person did NO research what so ever.. So that kinda knocks his benefits down a few pegs.

It's like me getting a hippo and thinking it can live in a kiddie pool.

haha This make me think of the funny line from the movie big daddy. "hip, hip hop, hip hip anonymous, damn you! you give him all the easy ones"

its probably only funny to me. lol

Yeah i guess. But would your hippo hide behind your filter? Wait, that doesnt really make any sense whatsoever. I guess i was just in a forgiving mood today.

But i mean you probably should expect a catfish to hide... Its kinda their whole game when they're small.

Post pics of the pond when done, that should be very nice. My redtail (only growing it out-its "leased") was literally impossible to find, i did not see it for almost a month until i finally found out where he hung out. when i found him, he was fat as can be, and way larger. from 3-5 he only came out at night, now at 6-7 inches, he will leave his spot for food, eat, than run back in. When the lights are out, he swims around, hit him with a flashlight, he is back in the cave. Odd fish for sure, but really wonderful to own. Just wish i could get the chance to keep 1 and see it grow all the way out. I am suck with a 55, so i only get to keep mine to 10 inches tops. Lucky guy if you are building a pond.

Maybe he is different. I never understood why you guys feel the need to jump all over everybody for having a fish that is eventually too big for a tank, in that tank when its 5 inches long. I have 3 Mono Peacocks at about 4 inches in a 55 to grow them out, they will eventually be in my 125 when they pack on enough size, and then on to my 300. Does that make me a bad guy and an irresponsible fish keeper? Let me answer that , No it doesn't. It means I'm practical. I'm not going to put 4 inch fish in a 300 because they will EVENTUALLY need it. You people need to start helping people and stop ridiculing them for something that you think might possibly in the future could potentially maybe happen.

Its different when you have that monster tank. you think you have all his time but then in the end the fish dies a terrible death. Why would you put a fish in a tank you KNOW will out grow it. its like if i put a niger catfish in my 900gallon i KNOW it will out grow it. so in good mind i cant.99% of the people that say "ill get a bigger tank" "it'll go in my pond" just say this so you dont jump on them. you dont make your kid live in a garbage can. thats the same as a rtc in a 55, or rather a larger tank also.

The RTC will be hard to hide when it's 3 feet

Absolutely :) Im going to finish it and get the fish in it before I post a thread. I want it to be a complete start to finish thread so everybody can see it all at once.

Don't blame ya, I've watch some build threads where posters went nuts for pics along the way.

I don't know I'd like to see these fish sold to licensed keepers only who can prove they have at least 1000 spare gallons of water per RTC regardless of the size of the fish at sale. That said I didn't get my RTC's until I had 2000 gallons each available.
