Sarah88 thank you very very much!!
I checked there vent and I got 1 male and 1 famale!!!
The darker one is the male and the bright one is the famale.

Thanks again!!
I hope I get lucky and they are a pair... :)

thank you very much!! I'll check there venting now.
I hope I understood you properly.
I can not get 4-5 of them because only 12 units arrived, and they all were sold out.
Luckily I got 2 units.
There is no way that if i got male and a female I'll have a pair??

There is a goos chance that when they grow more and get bigger one will kill the other. If you grow more of them you would have a better chance to get a pair. Good luck with them !

thats good you got a male and female, congrats! but yeah with only one male and one female you will have to watch them extremely closely, these guys are much harder to pair than most other cichlids and are extremely picky about their mates. if they dont think a mate matches up then they wont hesitate to turn on them, as long as they are swimming around and getting along thats good just keep a close eye on them, most likely you will have to use a divider though when they get larger to keep them from killing each other, with as rare as they are in your country you dont want to take a chance with losing one of them

yes you should be able to vent them at that size, you can take them out and look at their privates, females will look like Oo and males will be oo, but really if you are aiming for a breeding pair your best bet will be to get several more of them and grow out a group of 5-6 if you can as this will give you the best possible chance at getting a pair that will not kill each other and since they are so rare in your country you shouldnt have any problem selling the extras for a pretty penny once they are grown out more, and yes females can have spangles in their fins however they wont have spangles on their bodies while males will. but at that size they are notorious cross-dressers so only way to tell for sure at that size is venting

You sure only males have spangles on the body? My female has spangles on the body as well.....

Yes, some females will have spangling on their body but will have less on their fins and that is definitely not a good way to try sexing festae lol. you should be able to vent them at that size and If you do have a male and female i would divide them untill you can be sure they are interested in eachother. and if they are not you can sell or trade to find a match. and Sarah is right, they can be very difficult to pair out compared to other cichlids. Congrats on your pick ups and welcome to MFK

usually that's how it is on the females I've seen, but with festae nothing with telling sex by coloration is set in stone lol so you must have a nice flashy female :)

They are young and getting along. In my experience, as long as they are getting along, keep them together. Let them grow together. I have some of the meanest Cichlids out there sharing the same tank. And I feel its because I start them real young and introduce them to other species. I rarely have issues with aggression. The only time that I do is when I try to introduce a fish into my big boy tank. Then it gets interesting for a day or 2.

Also Bluemoon, Festae go for anywhere from $15-$30 at that size here in Seattle Washington, USA. I have a pair that has just spawned, and I already have a waiting list for the babies.

Good luck, and keep their water clean.
