Red texas fading red?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Those little spots are seen on faders but it isn't a dead give away for me that this one has faded. If that fish faded that red it was done after many generations of line breeding. That would never come from the initial bp/carpintis spawn. Could we get some more information on the fish?

That fish faded. No way that's first gen cross and I'm positive that its not cross with a bp

Ok... We agree it's not from an initial cross and I'll agree it didn't come from a bp cross. The title/point of this thread is misleading... I was just talking about first gen bp crosses. If someone posts a pic they should be able to give a little info about the fish to back it up. I didn't make the thread for just looking at different crosses... There are plenty of threads like that already. I basically wanted to see the reddest fade that would come from the initial bp/texas or carpintis spawn. My main point was that when one from the initial cross fades, it will fade orange and then it "might" develope red on top of the orange BUT they never just fade blood red. Just my thoughts on the fading process... I am ok with being proven wrong, I just would like some information from the owner of the fish stating so. Source... I say this because it is a waste of our time going back and forth when neither of us own the fish even though it probably did fade.

Yeah... There's something "extra" about that fish. I don't know much about hormones to say yes or no but more info from the owner of the fish would be nice...

Good luck getting info on that fishe's background. They never tell. Even if whoever has it actually knows. But they will sell it in a second for big money? It's an amazing fish from the picture, but not something I want in my tank.....I just recently found myself In front of a tank filled w/ "baby blue" silver arowanas. Even their eyes were blue. They had to have been dyed and that can't be good for them. Find it hard to think those will live long & do well.

Here's my RT I grew out over past few months it was only like 2-3 inches when I got it. Literally grew like a weed it had this color pattern since it was small so guess I won't have to wait to see if it "fades"?

Well the reddest I've seen from a texas x bp is cjbarth's fish that Water had for a while and that one already had some deep red before it faded.
You will get lucky if you get an actual red texas in few spawns and it has to be heavy in the vieja genes. Hope that helps

Your right. I don't expect him or anybody else to show the step by step process but we all are part of this forum to learn. I just wanted to see a blood red fade from a first generation bp/texas cross.

Thanks Kizzle for saying that. That lets me know you at least know the owner and its not a photo copy. My only thing issue is... that is not the same red as the fish you posted before. That's a deep orange but not red. Although under the "right" light it will appear red. I have bp/texas crosses that have faded similar to that just not as deep. Some have a more pale or richer color from different lighting that was used.

My red devil with the hybrid is just to show the different hues of orange.

The fish I had from Cj was not a BP X H. carpintis. It was a male H. carpintis x faded RT female.
