Red Texas project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It may help to remove the male. He could have been stressing her and that could have caused her to eat them.

Oh alright, thanks man. How long do you think it would take for her to start spawning again, is there anything i can do to help her get into the mood besides frequent water changes?

Feed heavily (not overfeed) and add some high protein foods like krill. My kkp spawned twice in a month. I fed her a bit more anyways as I didn't want her egg production to slow her growth too bad.

It won't be long before she's ready to go again. Next time try to divide the tank or put the male in another tank. Good luck!

Not to sound judgemental BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR VIDEO DOCUMENTATION!!!!, but...... you might wanna keep the cameras away from them at least for the fist few days after they hatch because I have seen parents get freaked out by to much action outside of their tanks and then they eat the young

Crazycichlids, thanks. that never crossed my mind. I'll keep that in mind next time around.
Now that i think of it. I think that the problem was that when i tried to take the male out i couldn't because he kept swiming into the shell where all the fry were and disturbing the whole scene. I think that might have cause the female stress and over night she ended up eating her babies. Not too sure. we'll see next time.

I watched the vids and it seemed like the female didn't want the male around, so my two cents is also to remove the male. Oh, and I sent you a message on YT about the babies before I read the update on here, so I'm sorry for your loss and you can disregard the message.

Whats up MFK, So as you know, my first batch of fry for my RT project are gone. Since then, I've decided to get a 40 gal. breeder tank for my RT project and I found a great deal on Craigslist. So, here is a video of my new RT breeder tank with my KKP and H. Carpintis (Texas) getting ready to spawn again pretty soon. i'll keep you all posted. Enjoy!

Yea they do look a lot alike. Im pretty sure the end result will be different. I have a few ideas that I wanna try out. It'll take a while a while if not a few years though. Well see.
