Red Texas!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I bought them from a girl that lives near me who had them breed on accident. I saw both parents in the tank together, so I believe that the cross is legit. I have had the babies for about a week now, so I am guessing that they will need another week or so before they are comfortable enough to start anything (growing, fading, etc). They are in a growout tank i have with 6 festae(F1), and 4 lyonsi (f2) they are larger than the festae, but smaller than the lyonsi.

you very well may get a few winners out of that batch. best of luck. keep me posted on how they turn out.

Nice pickup, maybe next time since the breeder lives close to u msg him and save some money... lol

Tru... hindsight is always 20/20. ive seen them go for way more tho and since i didnt have to pay for shipping from abu dabi i felt good about the price. I definitely will be contacting him directly next time tho lol

That was a very nice pick up! The producer(Oscarman2003) of the fish let you know he was sterile. Just wondering... Did the store have him labeled or did you know he was sterile for that price?

No they did not have him labeled but i assumed he was sterile as 95 percent of red males are because of the inbreeding it takes to achieve the coloration(red texas are hybrids and are not a naturally occurring fish). If you can indeed find a fertile male specimen of good quality he would be worth a lot more than what i paid.

Oh I already know about them. My buddy and I made the superbowl parrot/tex spawn thread. We have some 2 year olds and know all about fertility issues lol. I was just wondering if the store labeled him as sterile because assuming he is sterile(which is the right thing to do because most are) and knowing he is are 2 different things. But you know all about his fertility because you were told by Oscarman2003, so no need to check. Most if not all fertile rt's stay with the producer because they are the thank you's for all the hard work! Lol

Here is a quick video of him
