Red Tiger Mota

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why dsont you just get a Female Red Terror? That will work in a 55gallon. Thats what I want to do in one of my 55 Gallons. But, I think if a female Red Terror could would a Female Red Tiger Mota would as they get about the same size. I say go for it. Let me know how it works, because I want to try it too. One of my 55's is getting a JD and the other should have a RD/Midas or some Amphilosus Lyonsi.
But let me know how this works out because I'd like to stock my third 55 with a Female Mota.

could it work- in therory yes. is it a good way to treat the fish- no. 75 for a confortable life min.

I dont see it isnt a good way to treat a fish.
Most females max out at 11-12''
With proper up-keep and W/C's I dont see why not.
It may not be the greatest set-up but I just dont understand why its not worth a shot.

if the fish is as long as the tank is wide or within 3" i personally wouldn't do it. but yes in therory with great matenince and upkeep it can be done.

Well, I think I'm going to try it.
And if it ever looks like its too large, or isnt fairing well in the tank I'm sure some nice MFK member wouldnt mind having it.
Science project!

Wow I definitely wouldn't get a female red terror unless you want a 55 gallon with a stocklist that follows...

1 female festae

Get it? Because it will kill all your fish. You might be better off overstocking your 75 than putting the mota in the 55. Seriously, motas CAN be quite aggressive, and whether you think its comfortably fitting or not, it might still get frustrated and start killing off a few of you fish.

Grow it out in the 55 and if it becomes a big problem move it to the 75. Maybe try to move some fish around form the 75 (if you have some that are a bit smaller).

Thats exactly what I want, just one Female Mota, or a Female Festae, Most likely female Mota.
I have a 55 gallon with a JD and am getting three more 55 gallons that will hold F1 Labiatus, Female Mota, and Gold JD. Goind to put them all in a row around my room.

Might be what you want, but this kid has tankmates. They aren't going to be solitary fish in his 55 gallon.

A female festae wouldn't be too bad in a 55 gallon by itself, but certainly not with severums and bichirs.

Congrats on your FFF's (Female Fifty-Fives) hope they turn out nice. Name the Labiatus Angelina Jolie because since its F1 it will have huge lips.
