What's the reddest crenicichla? I'm looking for something new and challenging to breed. I was considering lents or Xingu's. Must grow over 10". Thanks in advance!

If you are wanting RED pikes though, go with either Crenicichla sp. 'tapajos I' (Tapajos Red) or Crenicichla sp. 'tapajos II' (Cobra).
Infinate Aquatics actually has some tapajos I right now. They ARE probably your reddest of the red pikes. Male and female get red, very bold too.

They were hard to get BEFORE the Brazilian ban/restriction....
I can expect both male and female to turn out like this? That's exactly the color I was looking for.
What kind of price range am I looking at for this species?

Yes that is what you should be expecting, females and males will both be as red. Females will have the white stripe in the dorsal though. Go to Rapps site and look at his fish pictures, he's got a great picture of a Tapajos I pair...

$50 my butt. I PM'd and asked about the Tapajos I. I was told $80 and that's as low as he'd go. Seems once he found out what he really had they were a more expensive fish...
I need to buy 6, so that's about 500$. I'm planning on getting them from Jeff because all I have to do is hand over a thousand carpintis and I'll have the money. Maybe buying a wild pair will end up being cheaper?? Who knows, but I'll see what Jeff can get me.
