Redoing my 120 and going Cichlid Style!

you maybe could add the O in with a GT pair but its really up to the GTs at that point, for the most part Os are wussys so he may get beat up, on another note GTs grow slower than Os so you want to make sure he wont grow so much faster than them that they can become food, maybe get the GTs to about 4in and then add a 2-3in O (making sure to move everything around to disrupt and territory the pair may have claimed) also make sure to keep a close eye on your nitrates with Os its super important to keep them below 20, and 1 O will make about the same waste as your GTs combined so make sure your filter can handle it, also if you did do the GT pair and the O then i wouldnt add any other cichlid small or medium, only some kind of dither

i could see it being good since the pellet would be moving attracting the attention of the fish.

it could be bad in some scenarios where it is moving very quickly making it a little difficult for the fish to catch it..

with a sinking pellet; the pellet will still move through the water, but will eventually come to a resting place, where multiple types of fish could get at it.

however, i would like to try floating pellets when i get my cichlids. the reason be; i want to eventually hand feed them!

i tried doing that with my 10" oscar, bad idea! the dang thing almost tore my finger off! so i still hand feed him, but only if im feeding him things my hands aren't going to be to close to his mouth!!

excellent advice. i would stop my stock list right there!

2 GT
1 O
2 Bichirs
1 flagtail
6 clown loaches

my filtration is a FX5, eheim 2028 pro 2 and i also have a 1200GPH powerhead to keep things stirred up nicely. - this is my current filtration that has been established for a year now on my 120 gal. i could always add more..lol

ok great yeah that sounds like it will be a pretty cool tank then hopefully you wont have a problem with the GTs not liking the O, should be ok though and yeah your filtration is more than enough to handle an Os waste lol GOOD LUCK and make sure to post pics once everything is up (wouldnt mind some pics of your current stock either :naughty:)

i will fore sure make thread dedicated to the new set up. im thing about making it in the set up and filtration forum, since it involves lots off different types of fish and aquascaping.
