So I decided to completely redo my 187 gallon and turn it into a reef tank (with dad's help of course since I'm only 17). We tore it down and so far, we've removed all the crushed coral and built a 55 gallon sump/refugium combo. I've also done all the plumbing and have bags of Aragonite waiting for me. Inhabitants so far include:
1 Bicolor Angelfish
6 Yellow Tailed Blue Damselfish
2 Smithi Damselfish (a breeding pair)
2 True Percula Clowns (a breeding pair)
1 Royal Gramma
1 PJ Cardinal (6 years old now)
1 Blue Ricordea
an unknown number of brown zoanthids on one of the live rocks
an large number of red mushrooms
one giant pink with green tipped hairy mushroom
250 lbs. of live rock covered in coralline
25 Blue leg hermits
about 200 astraea snails (they keep breeding, I started with only 50)

Here's pics:

Got all the plumbing done and the refugium finished (minus a few pieces of live rock and chaeto). Pics of Today's progress:

BTW, if anyone is wondering where I put all the fish when I tore down the tank, they are all living in the old 30 gallon sump.

nice job you guys are doing.

will it be ready before Xmas?

I hope to have it ready by no later than tuesday.

looking good cant wait to see it set up :D

When I add these fish, I'm hopefully going to be adding a coral beauty angel at the same time, in order to help prevent fighting between it, and my bicolor angel I've had for 3 years.

Nice. Subbed. :D

Tank has sand, water, and all the live rock without pieces of coral on it inside now. Pics when it clears up. All the plumbing is perfect, btw. Absolutely no leaks and the water circulates much faster than before.

Tank is clearing up! :nilly:

Going to the LFS tommorrow to get the water tested. Gotta see if I can convince the parents into a coral beauty as well if my water tests out all fine. :naughty: I do know for sure that my salinity is 1.025. Temp is at 77 degrees F.
