Redoing my 187 gallon (making a reef) Super Pic Heavy!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just want to say that they died before the cupramine treatment. Also, I see no signs of velvet on any of the fish but will keep watch. Down to the following fish now:
2 True Percula Clownfish (mated pair)
4 Yellow Tailed Blue Damsels (there are now 2 pairs, they killed the blindin one eye damsel :( I also know they are pairs because they defend each other and chase off the other pairs of fish)
2 Smithi Damsel (Mated Pair)
1 PJ Cardinal (Still hanging in after 6 years now and multiple tank wipeouts, by far the hardiest fish I have ever owned, even more so than convict cichlids)

I also still have all my inverts.
It looks like this is going to be a soft coral/anemone tank now too, btw since all my coral eaters/nippers are dead.

I am sorry to hear that you have lost so many fish. On the bright side you can do a softie tank now, which will be new and rewarding!

That is still quite a few damsels(clowns are damsels too) so they may or may not kill off each other. Only time will tell there.

Sorry about your fish losses, but like nonstophoops said, you can get some corals going if you would like. I have a softie and anemone tank and I find it very enjoyable, especially watching the clowns in the anemones.

I do a good softie coral pack...with shipping frags work out to less than $10 a pop usually.

Let me know if you are interested.

Well, I was only going to do a softy tank because of my PJ Cardinal, but I found him on the basement floor this morning. It was actually really sad, since he was my real trooper. I actually cried after he died, the first time I've cried in a long time. Looks like I'll be setting up a nano reef for the clowns and shrimp and star (I will rotate rocks from the big tank to make sure he gets enough food), and put the damsels in the sump. I'm not for sure on this yet though. I'm thinking predators for the big tank.
