Redoing My 75 Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I added the Emerald Green Corys and the School of Black Neons tetras yesterday. I also removed the pleco as it was digging and some of the dirt got exposed. So no more pleco.

I will be getting more Black Neon Tetras and more Emerald green corys and probably some more Pristilla tetras as well over the next month.

I think that I am going to need to do a pH buffer to get it down to 6.0-6.5 because it is up in the 8.0 range....

I started to drip acclimate the Platinum Angelfish back into the 75 from the 55. I checked the pH in the 55 and it was 7.8 as well so I didn't think they will have much of an issue going into the 75 with an almost same pH...:(

I'm hoping that pH change is from the sand and after a couple 7-10 water changes the pH will go back down to 6.5 like it was to begin with...:irked:

what are you dosing as far as trace elements and other minerals, or is the dirt you got sufficient. Tank looks great, i like the plant choice i see some of my favorites in there

The dirt should take care of it all... I'm not all that informed about what nutrients plants need. But I know that they need iron, thats why I have clay in there.

If I dose anything it is Kent iron and manganese because that is what was on sale at petco.

Noticed you use a Cascade as well...Do you have any beef with it.

I might use this video when I upgrade my 75, I like the idea of the miricle grow.

This is my first and only canister filter that I have, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have to clean it every 3 months because it clogs, not such a bad thing...

Also, if you hold it on it's side water leaks out of it. This makes me worried a little that if something in the hose were to clog that 50 gallons of water would end up on my floor.

If I were to buy another canister filter I would buy another one of these. It holds a good amount of media, its reletively quiet (it's in my room and I can sleep through the night with no problems).

Wow! I gotta say... I'm impressed! Love both tanks, and the Angel school is fantastic!

I know I can cram two boxes of bio pads in mine (which is rather expensive at 10.99 a box) so I am looking for alternitives. I just picked up another one Saturday for my 75gal upgrade. So now I have 2 1000 on my 55 (getting it ready for transition to the 75)

I seem to clean mine once a month.
