here's a pic of my new monster. First one I have seen in montana in the 2 years that I have been here so far. He's 1.5 inches, I fed him last night some blood worms and crushed red cichlid pellets mixed in tank water in a small medicine dropper. He came right to it and sucked up all the food. His home for now you ask? a 10 gal. lol. Until he's big enough not to get eaten that is. Hopefully I will have the 2100 gal up and running so that he doesn't have to go threw the whole barage of growout tanks. If not then he will go from there to a 45 gal hex, to a 75 gal, to a 125 gal, to a 350 gal, to the 2100 gal when it is finished cycling. lol, my cories are bigger than him right now. They are about 2x his size, no wonder so many people are decieved by them. The other one I kept I got at 6" this is the smallest catfish I have ever bought.
Cute little devil thats for sure. The growth rate during the first year is amazing. You'll be moving the new dude to larger digs sooner than you think.
We have several LFS's that get frequant shipments of 2" and under RTC's and while I disagree that they get too big to house properly in a large tank I definatly understand that far too many people pick them up without concidering their eventual size.

I shy away from those because I had a bad expierance with them. During a rebuild and expantion of my concrete pond I used one to house my Koi collection temporarilly. Unfortunatly one of the wolves pulled off the filter hose while I was at work, drained the water and he and the others dined on a frighteningly expencive sushi dinner...
The one I am getting is the 12" dia one. They have it at target for $179. Holds 2082 gals, as it states. It is 36" tall. It is the one with the metal frame. Looks really sturdy if it were to drain some it couldn't collapse in on itself because of the rigid metal frame. i am staying away from the ones with the float ring around the top although there is another member that used one for over a year now for his arowanas, and catfish. Ray keep us updated. Post some pics in the pond section if you haven't already. I will do the same. Unfortunately I can't afford it until the 15th. Damn house payment lol.
