redtail catfish size

Actually there are no 6'ers but it's possible on paper and in History they would have gotten that big.

If you are lucky enough to have one that reaches 4' in home aquaria you have done something right as they are very rare at that size in a private tank... Public aquairums have some Monsters including one in (I beleive) Germany that has one that is just at the 5' mark and is over 30 years old.

To answer your question on Tank Size... that is the longest running debate in the CatFish section of the site... the Answer is as big as possible. Generally speaking though if you would have a hard time purchasing/building a Large enough tank for one of these guys... chances are you can't afford to feed one long term as they will eat Bags of Shrimp (All of the owners of larger RTCs will tell you that their fish eat WAY better than they do)

well not nescessarely little but you know what Im talking about people keep big fish in those swimming pool things in garages or basements not sure what people call them ive always wanted to have one for large fish though
