so I guess ill have to put a swimming pool in the basement
Been there. Done that and it worked great. 3 nigers 28", RTC 28", Marble 18". Pool pump. DIY filter. It was 12' dia. 3' deep.
I miss having a basement. One day I will do it all again.

I have pics but no scanner. I bought a RTC before I knew what to do. It was awesome. Humidity was an issue. Insulate using foam wallboard first. Tape it all up and then get some bags of sand to do the corners where the wall sides meet the floor. I never had a problem and everyone had plenty of room to roam. Forgot the three Pacu. They were in the 20"+ range

Actually there are no 6'ers but it's possible on paper and in History they would have gotten that big.

If you are lucky enough to have one that reaches 4' in home aquaria you have done something right as they are very rare at that size in a private tank... Public aquairums have some Monsters including one in (I beleive) Germany that has one that is just at the 5' mark and is over 30 years old.

To answer your question on Tank Size... that is the longest running debate in the CatFish section of the site... the Answer is as big as possible. Generally speaking though if you would have a hard time purchasing/building a Large enough tank for one of these guys... chances are you can't afford to feed one long term as they will eat Bags of Shrimp (All of the owners of larger RTCs will tell you that their fish eat WAY better than they do)

Come take a trip to the London aquarium. There are some that are AT LEAST 5.5 foot i'm sure one was 6.

I was there in September... none larger than 4 1/2" although it seeemed like one was pushing 5' when I lined him up he wasn't as big as he appeared.... they are SOOOOO Wide that they appear longer than they actually are

there is a monster in Milwaukee WI in a two story tank that you look down at from the second story hes always swims the bottom so a real size is hard to say but they do look bigger than they really are this one could swallow my 7 year daughter down to her knees hes got to be just alittle short of five feet

Not had a RTC before but from what i have seen on MFK and on the net i would think a tank/ POND about 20x15x4 foot would be a good size for 1 maybe 2 RCT .

But thats just me , as i have no experiene with them im probily way off with the size .

All i know is that they get big and eat alot .
