Based on other similar posts you will be lucky if you can find him a good home for free. No public aquarium or zoo will take him since it's a hybrid. (since you are in NJ you can call Shark Aquarium to see if they'll take him)

shark aquarium? i've never heard of that place, where is it at?
we were looking into the university of philly since last time we needed a vet they were very interested in seeing him and because the vet we did find is a professor/doctor there and he is wonderful.

I think you are refering to the University of Pennsylvania vet. hospital on Spruce street or the one across veteran hospital. I have heard that there was a japanese koi owner who brought a koi for treatment all the way from Japan to that vet hospital.

Camden Aquarium might take him/her.

they're worth less the bigger they get- though I'm not crazy about hybrids but a pretty specimen in its own right

yes that's the place i'm talking about. i've talked on the phone with them several times before this and i always thought they were great people, gotta call this weekend to see if they might take him.

camden, sir have you ever been to the camden aquarium? lol. they usher you from the parking lot to the front door with armed guards so you wont be shot. lol. but thanks for reminding me of them cause i didn't think about the camden aquarium.

really? cause i was checking out a couple fish store sites and they have catfishes smaller in size (same breed) for 2 times more than i'm asking. which made me laugh cause we were gonna price him much higher and thought that was too much.

Although he might be "worth" a small fortune, to be able to rehome him that fast you would almost need to be paying someone to take him. Hopefully one of the aquariums or the uni will take him in and give him a great home.
