  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i really like the looks of that, dunno if it the clear water or the colour of the bulbs ya have in it.... but damn it looks AWESOME, so both boulbs are 6500k ? i wonder if i had just 2 6500k bulbs in my t5h0 i have now would work... ?

i run a 29 gallon sump and a Ehiem 2217 :)
and water changes!!

Mine is 10'x3'x4'- 770 gallons.

I think you will be happy with dual T8 6500ks.

so a dual t8 is 32watts per bulb right ? so that 64watts all together compared to the 108watts i have in my 48" fixture right now (t5h0) is there any shop light fixtures that can sit on top of the tank like the way my fixture does now ? like just right on top of the glass without hitting the bulbs or anything ? all though it would be great to have a small steel bar get bent up to be attached on rear of my stand something almost like this http://www.ocreef.com/images/articles/large/Aquarium-Light-Hanging-Mount-Hook.jpg except there would be a bar that goes right over top of the tank allowing to run say 2-36" fixtures, or a 6ft fixture if i ever found one later down the road, might look a little goffy tho if it all ist being used, so maybe just some bars bent in a "j" hook would be just fine and then attach em to hang the 4ft light a few inchs from top of the tank...

yup^
shop light and 6500K bulbs do a great job!
if i remember correctly, it's these bulbs:

My husband rigged this light fixture for our 300 gallon tank. The bulbs are just off the top of the tank in the closed position. The lights can be raised up when we have to get in the tank.

We don't have a canopy on ours, but the light fixture gives it sort of a semi-finished look.

im thinking of just cheap light cuz the dual bulb t5h0 (10,000k and actinic 420nm) i have now is waaaay to strong few hrs a day and have brown algea everywere... figure get something that isnt as strong and looks good and sell my t5h0 and make some cash, i think maybe a dual bulb 4ft fixture or something...

the higher the k rating (and lower wattage)...the less BROWN algae...maybe try 18'000 k

well i had a power glo and marine glo bulbs in the fixture and it was still brown everywere....and seems for the t5h0 fixture i have you can only get bulbs that are 54watts each...mine takes the 1/2" bulbs not the bigger ones

t8 should work... maybe even 36 in. fixtures:popcorn: also marine glow lite MAY BE CULPRIT ...powerglo's generally (from experience) ,, dont create LARGE amounts of BROWN algae

NO YOU NEED T8 FIX. FOR T8 BULBS.... but certainly h.o. 10'000k's could grow brown algae...less watts (as in t8 32 watt)may help a bunch...
