Reginald James' First Planted tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pretty amazing man good job. I absolutely agree Snip, i would never keep large fish in empty tanks its horrible and looks just as bad. This tank on the other hand does great justice to the amazing fish and their natural habitat

Update time. Removed the western milfoil because it grows like a weed. Removed the middle rock to open up more real estate for plants. Moved around a few plants to get more color and leaf morphology contrast. Still have some growing in to do but I like the way it is developing. I'm looking to get 2 more background stem plants for both back corners but havent decided which species I want.

Enjoi!

Update of the progress. Added more light and another powerhead. Plants are really filling in. Doing some heavy trimming. Hoping to soon Sell/Trade clippings to LFS to help pay for my addiction.

You can see the overlapping a little here. Trying to make "lanes" that give the tank more depth.

Looks really nice. Can't wait to see it once everything is filled in.

Good Job! Its definitely nice.. im jealous!

looks good. I think you need to take some time and hide your powerheads. Its a shame to spend so much time scaping and then leave things so exposed. For me that ruins a nicely scaped tank

Ya, I've tried positioning them in other places. Unfortunately the current setup provides the best current without blowing the tall stem plants over. I want to try some wavemakers but they are expensive.

Update. Been working on trimming techniques and have continued to shape, move, and reposition. Still messy but tweaking it constantly with the hopes of creating more depth with clear and crisp contrasts. I've got a bad case of collectoritis.
