To make a long story short, I have a 110 gallon (48x30x18 inch) tank with nothing but a 6-inch common pleco in it, and some sunfish getting adjusted to their new stock tank.

I am open to pretty much any idea, I only posted it in this section because I have always wanted a big wallbanging cichlid, but I have tossed around the idea of a pleco only tank. Ideas?

Well a glass banger my not care too much for the pleco lol.

You have plenty of options. If you're more specific you'll get better advice. If you want a glass banger, something like a Midas or red devil would be a good choice.

My Flowerhorn bang my tank hard but my red devil 16 inch monster I bought broke my glass a few times. He would splash water even if you walked by and hit the tank so hard. His hormones went through the roof when breeding. I didn't gravel vacs for a year due to him attacking me and just making everything wet. I just used powerhead and put the return for my water changes so I can at least grab where my dead areas are.

I would personally do two flowerhorns. A female short body and a male with a big kok. They're crazy because they have red devil in them and Trimac just depends on genetics

Forcing myself to be more specific, I would want a personable, colorful cichlid that usually gets a bit less than a foot long. I don't think I can afford Flowerhorns.

Are you keeping that tank heated ? Only asking because of the sunfish.

It is heated. I have a temp controller, so I can adjust as needed.

That's a good blank canvas to work with. Play around through the threads here until something catches your eye. Can't go wrong with any new world setup.

What j will say is stay away from parachromis, vieja, caquetaia, mesoheros, nandopsis, amphilophus, herichthys, chuco, paraneetroplus, petenia, large lugubris complex crenicichla, or hoplarchus if you choose to do a community. A 4 foot will only work for pairs of the fish listed above.

If you want a community, stick with medium size or smaller cichlids.

Cuban cichlids look cool you could probably get a pair in that tank they max out at around 8-10 inches. But probably won't glass bang they're just aggressive.

Otherwise a red devil or Midas is the perfect option imo......but, if you want something more aggressive get a grammodes. I don't know if they're that easy to find and I've never kept one but they're rated one of the most aggressive cichlids and they're called mini dovii for a reason. I think they Max out 10 inches. But they grow r e a l l y slow (:

Grammodes are generally shy fish and may lead to dissapointment.
