is this guy serious????? you really think that would be okay to do??? atleast you asked first......jezz man take it to a LFS or give it to a fellow MFK NEVER RELEASE A NONNATIVE FISH INTO THE WILD

is it not obvious to anyone else that the OP's decision to release the fish was heavily influenced by spiritual beliefs? sure releasing fish is wrong but I am not one to disrespect another's religion.
to the OP, please reconsider releasing your fish, it will only end badly for the arowana

Wow, not even sure what to say :duh:

thanks people for your concern. i wasn't thinking right. this damn pounding headache is killing me...reason for the medics. i didn't think about the temp and the wildlife laws at all when i was composing the post. better stop writing more now or things will come out wrong... :)

Why aren't any of you reading his post? He's talking about a company pond, not the wild. He doesn't know that "release" is a hot button word and probably the wrong word for his question. The past two pages are largely MFK fail. Read the post before answering.

my parents really believe in Feng Shui so after a series of unfortunate events, including the medics coming to my house TWICE in one week last week, and the important fact that my jardini did jump out of the tank and was saved by my wife not too long ago, they asked me to release the fish.

Why do you have a headache? Radon in your house? Poor diet? Your parents can't seriously think your fish have anything to do with your headache. I don't see how feng shui and a headache have anything to do with your aro. Can you explain what part of all this makes your parents want the fish gone? How do medic visits relate to your aro? What is going on here?

Mom and Pop really did convince me well with their reasons, and i gave them my word agreeing to release the fish this saturday, which btw is a good day for Buddhism.

i plan to put my 2yo jar in a huge pond in front of my office at work. it's a private property so no fishing allowed. my colleagues and i usually feed fish there at lunch. i believe it's going to be a very good place for my jar.

man, not an easy decision to make, but don't wanna make The Elders worry more.

questions:

1. will he be OK without air pump for about 45 minutes?

2. will he be OK in the pond in winter? it can get to below zero here, and i don't really know how deep the pond is. a lake would be better in this aspect, heard of Buckeye Lake? not far from me, but fishing is allowed there. plus, i'll still feel him closer to me being in the pond at work.

3. i never pay close attention to threads about bagging your monsters because i never had an intent to do that except for tank swapping. is clear or black bag better for this use?

no more dragon fish for me for a long while. have raised this fun boy since 2.5". he was shipped from asia.

thanks for reading. enjoy your dragons!

The lake would be considered "wild"? Thats what I read anyway.

from what i understand, arowana are thought to bring good luck, and when his jar jumped out of its tank it was interpreted that the fish was unhappy in some way, causing the string of bad luck in the house
