What did you decide? I'm a fan of both rena's and ac's. Most people on here (including myself) to overfilter. I would def do the xp for bio and ac for mech. That's always worked great for me! I also don't use chemical, which leaves more room for bio. One tip with the renas, especially since youre running it on a 6 ft is to use the power nozzle and put it on the end of your tank with the nozzle pointed towards the surface of the water. You'll have much better agitation this way

i'm going to use both, that is if i can get an xp4 for cheap :D. bottom basket will be a sponge and i'll fill the other 3 with matrix (i don't use chemical either). i'll be on the lookout for a couple cheap used ac 110's as well. i've pm'd a few people in the marketplace but haven't gotten a reply yet .

when i get the time i'll head over to that fish place.

Where at in pa are you located? I have an xp3 for sale if interested. I know its not an xp4, but I think you could get away using that as your bio. FIll bottom 2 trays up with bio and top half bio and sponges and use your ac110 for polishing. I just sold 2 ac 110's and an xp4. I may have another xp4 for sale yet, but im not totally sure. I'm straight south of harrisburg close to the md line in a town of greencastle, pa

i'm always a day late and a dollar short...

i'm near philly, so that's quite a hike. i'm only interested in the xp4, thanks though!

I have a 75 and have 2-AC110 and an XP4. I am a;ittle overstocked and it keeps the tank beautiful...no problems. BTW, I am in Atlantic City and go to philly all the time...Giant and Monster.

Could not add a sponge filter to my tank. Sure the plubing in the back might show some things I dont wish to be seen but I could not have a sponge filter sitting in my tank....

just picked up a used xp4 for $100. 1st tray sponges, 2nd tray floss, 3rd and 4th tray seachem matrix. i'm gonna let it seed for a month before i unhook the old canister that only had sponges in it.

does that sound like a good idea, a month to seed?
