Rena XP3/XP4 Impeller Upgrade

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i wouldn't get too excited over numbers until someone actually measures the gph. 600gph would look like a garden hose blasting off in your tank.

also, don't forget that there might still be a good reason for the given gph. if it's this easy to get more flow from the unit, why wouldn't rena have done it themselves?...

because its a poor design by rena i think thats why i switched it

i know what 600 gph looks like i have an fx5 and two more rio 2100 that produces over 600gph

I swapped the impeller in my XP3 yesterday....the flow rate DROPPED 10gph on my flow rate indicator. Also the Rio 2100 impeller is a bit smaller than the XP3 impeller.

South: did you, by chance, clean your filter at the same time you swapped impellers? When my xp3 clogs, it is a trickle. I only use the sponges, not polishing pads on my renas.

If anyone wants to help me troubleshoot, post up.

my xp4 is only a month old

and the impellar is not not smaller coz i actually have one and not lying to everyone in the community like someone is in this site

South15, have you done an actual GPH test with a timer and bucket (or flow meter) or are you just eyeballing the difference? I tend to believe knobhill as his findings are what my common sense told me from the beginning. However, I am open to your opinion though I would like something more than anecdotal evidence.
