Anyone ever get a fish that they wanted just to be disappointed in it for whatever reason, rehome it, and then try again and again?

I'm always thinking of Convicts, but I've had them twice in the past and for some reason, I want them again. I've always kind of liked them, but space commitment and aggression is mostly the reason I stay clear from them now a days, but I want them again, lol!

Panameus panamense above...............................Cryptoheros cutteri
All have simillar carer equirements to convicts, but slightly different aggressive quotients.
The sajia and cutteri get larger, and may require larger tanks, as adults.

I just recently buried my last severum. I'm looking to get some plants now that he's gone. I've had severums for the last 25 years destroying most of my plants.

Amatitlania has 9 species and they don’t all share the same personality traits as nigrofasciata.
That's just an example I can think of at the moment. Rainbow fish are another example. Especially the Boesemani Rainbow. I couldn't keep them alive for more than 3 months at a time. And I currently have 3 females Congo Tetras that have been with me for a couple of years now. I used to have more, but for some reason, they tend to die on me after a water changes. I used to have a group of 6 Congo Tetras years ago and they died on me after 2 weeks. Only thing I did was a water change. I got another group and same thing. I started doing smaller water changes which helped, but then I moved about 5 years ago and they didn't survive the move. Didn't try again until about 2 years ago. I decided to give them a try once again and got a group of 9 which were doing fine for months. I did 25% water changes instead of my normal 50%, but tried to slowly increase the water change percentage over time and not sure if that did them in or if there was something unseen going around. I have 3 survivors and would like more again, but they just don't do well under my care and/or maintanence routine. I've probably killed over 36 Congos at this point and they are not cheap in regards to the Tetra catagory.
