reptile classifieds etc etc

Im trying to get some ideas on how to get more traffic into the reptile forum, im thinking of requesting a classified section for herps only, so that we dont have to compete with the fish stuff (which dominates the buy sale), im also thinking of doing a raffle sometime in the future. If any of you guys and gals have other suggestions please feel free to go ahead and post them here. Only serious suggestions will be taken into consideration, any garbage will get deleted.

Sounds like a great idea to me! You being a mod will greatly help the cause. But I'm sure you'll here, "this is a fish site" from some. Good luck!

Ive already recieved some good feedback about the classifieds and the raffle, were always looking to entice more people in here, and reptiles is another way to grow the site.

I see what you mean. This is a fish forum, but why not have more emphasis on reptiles? The admin should consider it.

Maybe a banner add for MRK Monster Reptile Keepers would help.

I think they're all good ideas. Raffle would be good but I guess you(and I'm guessing you have) have to figure out if what you're raffling will have a large interest to get lots of people involved. I also think smaller lizards/turtles would be the best for raffle items.

Beyond that I would just put out the word to herp keeping friends that MFK has a reptile section and for them to come spread some love. Whether that's with helping info or just pictures of what they're keeping.

I think you will have a fight on your hands with alot of people for a reptile specific classifieds unless you know you could increase traffic for such a section. And of course if reptiles gets too big you'll have alot of people screaming "This is a fish site". All is just my opinion though. Hopefully not garbage. lol

It could just be a misc. classified called "Exotic."

GEEZ!! Why not just break away completely from MFK? Post your own reptile site banner, run your own raffles, and buy/sell classifieds. Hell, just run this as a totally separate herp site on Li's site fees. I'm sure he won't mind a breakaway faction from his fish site.

I do agree with Oddball that this site is probably not the place for reptile raffles and such but will seek further discussion with other mods.
