reptile classifieds etc etc

I like this site a lot more than Kingsnake or other Herp forums. I'm a pretty experienced reptile/invert keeper, with 6 years or so of maintaining large collections of exotics , and I check out this section a lot, but definitely agree it would be nice to attract more experienced keepers to this forum, if only so there are some great discussions of advanced topics on par with what goes on in the fish section of the site. I like the classified idea, hopefully it works out well for everyone. I'm gonna try to be more active on this forum especially in the future, and make sure I post pics of some of my bigger setups, like loco mentioned. This could be a really good place for active reptile enthusiasts, and there is a lot of crossover between herp and fishkeepers.
 
My wife and I posted two complete lizard set up's for sale and never recieved even a single reply. This sort of responce...or lack there of...might be a good part of your problem.
 
I would think that most people would prefer an already established site like kingsnake...lets be honest. This is a fish site not a reptile site but several of us just happen to have reptiles
 
Yes, but KS is full of newbies. MFK people usually have decent experience with fish, and big ones at that. Theres not as many 'I GOT THIS COOL MONITOR WHAT IS IT?' type posts. I MUCH prefer species specific sites, such as varanus.net. For more general questions, its better to ask in general herp subforums such as this one.

I would only post at KS is there was a particular person I had to talk to, or a very general question.

But a MRK site would be much different than KS.
 
A site such as MFK, which is in a league of its own and full of knowledgeable people should have space for reptile /anphibian / other exotics keepers. Most of us have monster fish ( I am a full blown aro maniac , as a lot of you know ) but I ( as well as many others ) also have interests in other species. So why not let us concentrate it in here and contribute to the enrichment of MFK?

We're talking turtles, snakes, frogs, lizzards..it is not as if we were talking horses or Porsches....( although i love to)
 
An MRK would be different that just a subforum for other exotic pets, which includes birds, exotic mammals, inverts... But an MRK would be MONSTER REPTILE keepers not every lizard, every turtle, every snake, every bird, every everything else... I think most of us would like a site for BIG herps, whether associated with MFK or not. Kingsnake doesnt solve everything...

I see your point though.... And youre an MFK veteran so...
 
Loco, I simply have neither the time, nor the patience, to regularly go to other sites. MFK does it for me. Need no other, so I would love the "enlargement of scope "
