Pm sent to you and one to Li.

I do agree with Oddball that this site is probably not the place for reptile raffles and such but will seek further discussion with other mods.

You both are probably right..

Why should we break away from the site? It is not like that we amount to anything and the exotic forum population is really small. Most of us veterans go to KingSnake, FaunaClassifieds, etc for our needs. Really, I don't see why we should have a Classifieds just for reptiles. Most of the Classifieds I have seen are specific to the topic of the site and have one or two misc sections. So there is no reason to split the site.

The only benefit to the whole thing I can see is that not every MFKers are savvy about the exotic community and may wish to sell some of their stuff. For instance this site can have the same sub-classifieds as the Advanced Aquaria Discussion Forum along with two or three other sub-classifieds "Supplies and Enclosures," "Other Animals," and "Other Items."

I would love to have more movement on the reptile/anphibian front and would love it to stay at MFK.

GEEZ!! Why not just break away completely from MFK? Post your own reptile site banner, run your own raffles, and buy/sell classifieds. Hell, just run this as a totally separate herp site on Li's site fees. I'm sure he won't mind a breakaway faction from his fish site.

Thats a wee bit over the top there. Plus this was spoken about with Li before I even threw this out there for everyone else.

I have started an "exotics buy and sell" sticky in this forum on a trial basis.

Guppy thanks for doing that, I think this is a good way to get a feel for how much traffic/users this will attract before we were to revamp the reptile section.

MONSTER REPTILE KEEPERS! A sister forum to MFK for keepers of monitors, tegus, igs, crocs, and pythons. :D Actually being serious lol

Maybe thats a bit much... but it would be pretty cool, a site just for giant herp keepers with some subforums for the smaller ones and classifieds.

Heck, I would join it! :P

I thought about setting up a MRK site, but I wasn't sure on the copyrights. :p

I've always wanted to see big private herp setups. Usually all you see outside of zoos are plain, stark enclosures for the big 'uns. Sorta like the caiman lizard/stingray setup thread that almost no one replied to... *hint hint* I would love to see all the big herp keepers in one place. I'm technically one because I care for 2 common snappers and a bull frog on a regular basis, but I don't own them :D I'm aiming for a baby leucistic alli snapper before college though...
