RES with pictus catfish

Honestly i dont think it would happen as a turtle tend to eat a fish in peices, not in 1 chunk. Unless the fish is that small comapred to the turtle. I wouldnt do it either way though. I could see the guy spike him though if the turt tries but i dont think that would stop the turtle from eating it.



NEVER underestimate a turtle, i have seen very small turtle kill a larger fish no problem just by biting chunks from there skin. A turtle will get off its lazy but when it wants to, trust me.

Pictus can point their spikes in almost every direction so it might poke my turtle neck or skin in self defense.

Why risk it? I doubt many people voting for "no" will actually have kept pictus with a turtle anyway?

Any fish you put with a turtle should be expected to be feeders. A pictus is an expensive, and poor choice as a feeder, so I don't recommend keeping it with the turtle, because even if you think it won't become one, it probably will.

My turtle lived with fish all its live before it started living with me. Gave it a bigger tank and now he eats fish, so he no longer has any friends in the tank. i would no suggest keeping any fish with a turtle unless you are okay with them dying.

Do you have a larger tank set up since your female turtle should be heading to a larger tank soon depending on your tank measurements.

Im okay with them dying. Of course i have a larger setup. My turtle never lived with fish for the first 3 1/2 years of its life. When i introduced fish she hunted them for a week but i keep on reintroducing them until she decided fish are friends. I know she might hunt them anytime, but not soon. Im too lazy to tell you how certain i am, so just leave the fish in turtle tank to me.

i know for sure ur turtle wont die but ur pictus eventually well. mine red ear slider ate 2 channel catfish fish and bunch of spiny fish such as blue gills and basses without ever getting hurt. just so u know, the catfish i kept with the turtle was about the same size. u should find some larger pictus if u want it to survie

dont do it, my pictus got really aggressive for a while( we think they breed, or my albino cories had spotted elongated babies) and killed a few fish by shanking them...

RES don't do well with any fish, not to mention a female RES will need a 5'x2' enclosure as an adult plus a basking area and UV light. RES are not made to live in fish tanks.

Yes of course. I've done research. Keep in mind shes spent all her life with me (actually more like 95%). Leave the fish in turtle tank to me.

Pictus are extremely hard/ impossible to breed! Are u positive? Anyway any other cool catfish that wont hurt my turt if she eats it that can max out at 3-6"? Not too hard to find or more than $10!
