Day 2:

Strawberry - nope
Banana - nope
Blackberry - nope
Romaine (just to get him to eat) - nope
Tofu - nope
Bread - nope

In any case, got some food in him the hard way, a bit of strawberry and some tofu. And He's moving around a lot more now. Just need him to start eating on his own and we're good.

:grinno:
Ok so I got a phone call today from the vet professor that I was talking to yesterday.
It seems that following our conversation I left him with enough doubt in himself that he called a herp expert that he knows in New York. He appologised to me for suggesting that this breed of lizard eats a percentage of his diet in insects and stated that the use of any animal protien was only for extreme emergency.
So... kudos for him being willing to contact someone who knows more than him and kudos for him being willing to admit it.
So here I am with a vet that I now have a little more faith in who has asked if he can have access to my Ig for the use of teaching his students since they don't have any normally.

Force feeding a lizard isn't as hard as I thought it would be and hopefully we won't have to do it for long.
banana, whole wheat bread, firm tofu, strawberry
it's in him.

axe the bread and tofu, starch and a hard veggie wont settle well in a delicate digestive system, did you try grapes? You can also try baby food and syringe feed it until it builds enough reserves.

I would probably not force feed him either...He is older so his digestive system is a little slower. Keep up with warm baths...that will get things moving then he will get hungry and eat on his own.

I think you should try to hand feeed her some of the dark leaf veggys I told you earlier, thouse are the ones that will put her into shape. To much fruit, tofu and others will result in watery feces and possible digestion probs

try hand feeding. if that doesnt work you can use a syringe with a peice of tubing on it. do that for a few days then they will get used to it and they will just lap it up. then you can mix other veggies and leafy greens in slowly until you have it on a regular salad. how does the inside of the mouth look? maybe there is an underlying problem there that needs to be addressed.;) starting of mouth rot, or a sore of some sort

Well, when the cold snap ends, he's getting a full look over by a vet, including a bone density scan and parasite test (for free, no less). So hopefully any other problems will be discovered.

Ok first go to www.herpcenter.com its a great site , 2nd go to www.reptileuv.com for the best UVB lights in the hobby, and get that ig to a herp vet pronto, fecal exam at least and blood work not a bad idea too. A guess on my part is metabolic bone disease,MBD, and or internal parsites. As for food try collard greens and butternut squash, chop the greens up fine and the squash can run over acheese grater skin and all just remove the seeds.

Do not feed iguana pellets as they contain animal protein which igs cannot metabolis,
