Supermarket was light on leaves other than lettuce, getting a truck in this morning so should have better. But that's his first self-feeding, a mix of green beans, shredded carrot, and red peppers.

Here's the snake-assaulting cat making her introductions.

Our Iguana eats zoo-med Adult Iguana Food. We have Iguana multi vitamins that go on his fresh veggies. He really loves apples and green bell peppers, but will still eat his Green leaf lettuce, more protein than regular lettuce, carrots, bananas. Hibiscus flowers is like candy for a reptile, he loves them also.
He's in a new enclosure i built for him. He was in an 8 foot tall enclosure i built but kept falling to the floor. Now he's in a 5 ft. wide x 32" deep x 4 foot tall setup. The front is all glass (which is constantly spit on...LOL). He has two levels, one for basking and the other with his heat rock. The middle of the enclosure has a huge piece of driftwood in the center and his floor is tiles. This setup is easier to maintain (has a large door on one end) and easier on him.

GOOD to see! Glad he is eating for you!

Chad

COff COFF COFF.... Sooooooo...You are saying green leaf letuce is "better" then your average letuce, to put more vitamins alongside dry iguana food and that a hot rock is a good way to keep your iguana warm!?...Well were do I start?:nilly::nilly::grinno: You have ALOT of reserch to do...still!

:headbang2:headbang2So glad the green guy is doing better:D Just a few things...
I see you got her a ceramic ligth bulb wich in my humble opinion its the best possible way to keep your iguana warm at nigth. Just make shure you have some form of termostat control over it so it doesant goes beond the temp you want wich would be 80-85 degrees. I would also put a metalic mesh over it, igs are very curious and inquisitive, and remenbar they cant fell heat at immediate tuch so they can really burn themselfes. Make shure to fix that;) I would also use a ligth bulb for heat during the day insted of the ceramic one for extra ligth. So now all your missing its the uv ligth, get a good brand like a zoomeds:D
Its so great he´s back to eating:) The thing you did was a good old trick wich was to mix the food he already knew with more stuff. All thouse foods are a bit low in calcium but at least its varied. You can increase the fiber and calcium value by mixing with a bit of moist mazuri or zoomed adult ig food, untill you can get more greens. This is also a good time to get yourself a Hibiscus pot, by summer it should be ready for use.
I also see you have a cute litle kid there involved:D Dont however forget to expose him to the kid as litle as possible untill the kid is older as childs of this age havent yet their hymune sistem totaly formed and even if that Salmonella histeria is way over due," the safe died of old age" like we say here and dont forget that ig was taken of a bad condicion so it is still on the recovery and its gut flora may be out of balance wich is good for the bad guys that are out there so be extra carefull, both for the ig and for the kid. Lots of warmth and a fiber rich diet along side some good gut flora that is present for example in Zoomeds igs pelets will help;)
As for the cat it surprisses me that your ig tolerates it, however be carefull, Ive seen more then one case of igs getting very sich because of cat hair balls stuck in their gut. Igs prescrute everything with their tongues and any hairs that are on their way will be cauth and once in they cant spit them back. Wach out for that:)

Coura, I did not say to put dry vitamins alongside dry iguana food, i said to put it on his veggies. I did not say that a hot rock is a good way to keep the iguana warm, I said he has two levels, one for basking, and one with his hot rock. The upper basking area has his regular light, a uvb light, and a night time light made iguanas. His hot rock is not "hot", it puts out a steady warm heating area without no dangerous "hot" spots. My comment about the lettuce was that green leafy lettuce it better than most lettuces. Ice berg lettuce is the worst thing you should feed your iguana. OBVIOUSLY i need to do more research, since my several guide books aren't adequate. Or perhaps, you need to read the a post carefully before commenting.
