Rescue Oscar Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
stick with regular large water changes, and try to get him interested in food with some red wigglers, if you can get them. high protein will help wounds to heal.

He is eating regularly, pretty much anything I put in. Some of the body wounds seem to be healing but I am concerned about the hole in his gill plate. Looks like if he extended it you would see right through it. Any ideas on how long to heal before it's safe to put him in with other fish.

Just wanted to update. He has been sulking by himself in an empty tank, just sitting on the bottom. I thought I would perk him up and add some decor to his home. I put a dragon statue in that is about 3-4 times his size, just to relieve boredom. When I came home tonight he had shoved it across the tank and was staring it down like a challenge. Guess he is feeling better and will recover after all.

If the wound is from Hith, and it looks like it, it will take months to heal but it should be able to go in the general population as soon as healing is apparent.

Thanks Guppy. He definitely is healing. Think I'm going to move him tomorrow.

The Pictures are not that good but it looks like he was beat up bad.

That does seem like part of it but doesn't explain the hole in his gill plate.
