Rescued a TSN!

Oh this thread is missing a few photos of progress along the way :p I moved the tub down the wall about 8 feet and set up the new tank, than moved the fish into the new tank. You can actually see the tub beside the tank in one of the pics. This weekend the project is to get the tub set up underneath the new tank (dry for now cuz I have no fish to put in it.). That'll free up some work space for me.

WetWhiskers - I built the tank in Vancouver, and then had to move to Fort St John. Since it's so awkward and weighs around 400lbs, I decided to put heavy duty handles on it. I'm pretty happy with the way they look, and they make the tank a lot easier to move!

That was a fantastic idea. They look super stylish and must have helped a lot. We used suction cups on our big tank, but it was acrylic. So to place those, you must have drilled into 2x4's or something? If I were to do a plywood tank, I would almost certainly copy you if you don't mind.

Well I copied Red O, so no, I don't mind! I actually just used the screws the handles came with, which are only about 5/8" long. I was worried they might tear out but I had no problems lifting the tank with one person per corner.

Sounds good. I have written permission to steal the idea. LOL Okay, I'm gonna say you were brave to trust 5/8". I have a tendency to seriously over build, but I probably would have gone for 1 1/4". I'm glad they didn't rip out. That would have been horrible! :)

This one (I've named him Norbert, just for kicks)
Thank you for naming the fish after me.:D
Now i'm flattered.;)
And i think the TSN is very lucky running into you!
Beautifull fish and sweet rescue.
If i had a big tank like that ,I'd love to rescue a fish like yours.
Sadly enough , if i had a tank like that, there'd plenty of opportunities for rescues.:(
Too many big fish over here, with very little monsterfishkeepers.

btw Is there any Dutch blood in your veins?
Vermeulen is a Dutch name, as you may know...
Just curious.

Yes, 5/8" are short screws, but screws are tough to rip out! I was concerned a bit, but I couldn't really go longer, as the walls are only 3/4" ply

Noddy - yes my family is Dutch, a couple generations Canadian ;)
