i just found my Senegal Bichir stuck in the egg crate divider
it was real stuck and looked like it was trippin pretty bad
after panicking and knocking stuff over
i got him up for some air
then i cut him out with some tin snips
hes looking good now
glad i found him before crashing out

just wondering about other peoples fish RESCUES

We had a baby jellybean parrot disappear once. We didn't even think the filter strainers were big enough for him to fit inside so we didn't check the filters, we just figured he died and the other fish ate him or something.

Welll, 3 days later when we go to do filter maintanance there he is inside our Aquaclear. He must have wanted to get into that intake really bad because I don't even see how he fit in the strainer. Threw him back in the tank figuring he would die of stress eventually, but now he's the biggest one and has been doing just fine for several months.

I used to find fish in my HOB filters all the time...they do alright once you put them back in the tank.

I had this ceramic hollow log deco in one of my tanks...it was pretty cool actually, I had some juvi JD's and they'd swim through it & fight over it etc. Well anyway my pleco decided to go in there, and he got stuck...freaked out & erected his spines and there was no getting him out. So out comes the hammer and bye-bye log...pleco was fine though.

cool stories
slowlyburn is like a fish dentist

i think Plecos might be indestructible

seems like if given the chance most fish will heal up and be fine

On more than one occasion I've had to pluck fish off my prefilter. They just didn't have enough power to move, or they really really liked the suction.

Had a hatchet fish leap from his own tank into a tank with my arowana (RIP Arowana 9-12-06 :( :( ). I frantically ran about looking for a net, and was about 2 inchs away from the thing before the big guy snatched him up. =/ Not so much of a rescue as a suicide.

Could be that they like the suction. My betta sits there stuck to the filter but when he decides to he can quite obviously get off of it. Maybe it has a massaging effect.

Could be. It's really odd, and I'm always afraid they can't get away, so I pluck them off.

I had a "freshwater" moray get stuck in one of those intank coral lookin filters. He got in thru a hole in the bottom. i let him go for 2 days thinkin he would find a way out on his own, but every time i looked he was in a different spot, so i took a pair of side cutters and started cutting the thing to peices. Had to tear thru almost half of it to get it out, but after a day or 2 of bein out he seemed fine and started eating again.

I hate it when fish get stuck on filters. It scares me, they are probably sick or dying, or dead.
