Definately possible. Not difficult even....I resealed a 135 and it didnt take very long or much effort.

When you go to put the new silicone on, clean the glass with alcohol, tape about 1/4 from each corner, lay the bead, spread it out, and then pull the tape off. It will look professional that way.

Also keep in mind to pull the tape off immediately after spreading the silicone.

ok so i have a 40 gallon long that i kinda found, long story, i filled it not sure if it holds or not, so i wanna reseal just to do it, doesnt matter if it works,,,w/e.... so the tank is together, i saw above that perhaps i shouldnt take the tank apart. so does this mean just get as much of the silcone off from the inside in the corners and just put new silcon down??? is it to hard to start over from scratch??? what should i do.? how should i get the old silcon out?? thanks alot

Heres what I do when resealing a tank. I use a razor to scrape all the silicone from inside the tank. This will take a little bit of time but be patient because this is the most important step. When you think you got all the silicone out get a fresh razor and scrape it all over again. Once this is done get some acetone and clean all the glass well where new silicone will be. Once cleaned lay a small bead of silicone down and smooth out. Alot of people ask what to smooth with. I use a spoon from the kitchen and it works well to make a nice seam. I usually seal the bottom corners first then the sides :D coming up. Once done let cure for a week before test filling. The silicone will say it will be cured in 24-48 hrs but dont believe this. Be patient and let cure a week. Hope this helps.

alright cool and what kind of siclone do u use? i have seen a few different kinds and where did u buy it? thanks alot

GE Silicone 1 Window and Door. 100% Silicone. Once cured perfectly safe and alot cheaper than Aquarium silicone. Little hint The all glass aquarium silicone and GE are the same Product from same company.:naughty: BTW GE silicone can be found at home Depot.

a week is a bit overkill for drying i waited 48 hours and my fish are fine....also with the tape i found it easier to wait for it to dry then take it off, cause if you take it off when the silicone is wet you may smudge and make a huge mess of the glass.

To spread the silicone i cut up an old plastic container into the shape i needed and it worked awesome.
my 2 cents

Really? The closest HD to me doesn't carry the GE type 1, only type 2 with the mildew stuff.
