Reselling stuff on Craigslist

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
$50 a week is a good goal, break it down that's $200 / month.. if he makes one purchase for $100 on the 1st and sells it on the 28th for $300, he sat on it for 4 weeks, made one trip, one deal, netted $200 and made $50/week... it's all perspective.

I wouldn't want to deal with all the flakes/weirdos/scammers/idiots that you will run into on craigslist. Plus it would be kind of a bummer if you bought stuff and then ended up sitting on it forever...

Yee hawww. Lol

Storage wars is where its at.

Yeah, I've thought that a few times too just based on some of the trades... a geode for a muscle car?? come on, i'm not buying it...

to the OP, g'luck! Sounds like a lot of work and risk, but if you've got the time and bawls, go for it

Huh? Is it even worth the trouble for 50 bucks a week? You'd spend more then 50 bucks on gas, time and effort. Aim for the sky grasshopper

The reason I thought of doing this is because I could do it at home on my own term and timeframe. I'm free any morning and could go pick stuff up before work starts. Just quickly browsing craigslist last night I saw two 75 gallon tanks one with a stand the other without for $25 and $35. They didn't hold water, ilve resealed many tanks before so it would be a breeze to reseal and sell them for 100 bucks with the stand and 75 bucks for just the tank. Easy money for a few hours of resealing. Better than working a certain timeframe for a part time morning job.

Have you started yet? Any pick ups?

I've done a few things here and there. Learned a few things already.
1. People who are desperate...moving, can't afford to take care/cost too much are willing to let things go for cheap especially if your going to pick something up at that moment.

2. Get dimensions of the tank before you go pick it up. Was told some guy had a 75 gallon with no picture. He was very adamant about it so I beleived him. It was a 29 gallon for 25 bucks not soo much of a deal now....idiot. I'm taking a list of tank dimensions from now on and a tape measure. The guy supposedly didn't have one with all of the tools he had in his garage.

3. There are deals out there, just got to weed through the idiots who say "I got 1400 invested and I'm just looking to get $500 out of it" and their talking about a 20 gallon. Don't even bother with these people, they get all pissed when you offer $100 and that's even too much for crap equipment. Wait and the deal will come along.

That's it for now!

Yea there's some sketch ppl on CL especially in the fish department, normally the good deals are 1 time CL's just trying to get rid of their tank and price it ridiculously low just cuz they want it gone ASAP, but those adds are usually trolled within the hour, so you have to be quick, get the phone app and check every hour or so and eventually you'll score a 90gal for 60$ like me!

This is a good idea except when a con artist adopts a puppy you were fostering after doing a interview and them giving you a huge story and how they will love the puppy and blah blah and pay a $50 rehoming fee only to find out that person is a puppy reseller who resells free or low fee puppies at a petco in a different county for $200+

But for items i dont see anything wrong about it. Kinda like picking. Everyone makes a buck.

What app? I thought there wasn't an official craigslist app. What do you have? I look on my breaks during work, but something like the mfk app would be easier to navigate and just show me what I'm looking for.
