Well my LFS gets new stock in on Wed so I always head over right after work. Well today they had 4 Vampire Tetra's for $3.99 each. I almost jumped on it as I thought they would do good breaking up the lack of activity in my marble goby tank. Well I resisted and came home and looked them up (I've heard of them just never studied them that much) well come to find out they are fin nippers on slow moving fish (such as my marble gobies) and they get 4 feet long :WHOA:

Part of me still wants to pick them up just for the sheer coolness factor but man I can't house those. Oh well I'm sure all 4 will be really happy in someone's 10 gallon till the die.

I could always put them in the 150 with my O's and GT but I have a feeling they still wouldn't live too long in a 150. Anyone want to back me up or disprove me?? please.. disprove me?? jk..

lesson learned on research.
 
I think the biggest captive one I have ever seen was about 40cm(and it was a pic from an MFK member). I think they are really cool, but they seem to not do so well in the aquarium.
 
your talking about exodons, aka "vampire tetra" They do not get 40cm's...Are you talking about payara sabre-tooth ..
 
A good lesson that many people will ignore.
 
4 bucks is a steal! Man, I wish I could get that deal:D
They sell for $40-$50 here
 
They are Payara. They get big like stated :)
