irresponsible would be the ones that caught them from the river recklessly without thinking of the consequences. but that is too late now, the fish r already in the trade instead of in the river, the responsibility lies in the current fish owner. * consider it as a rescue, would you think of the rescuer as being irresponsible? *

The purchaser is not absolved of guilt, purchases fuel the market, possibly contributing to hypothetical species dire predicament.

The fact that he is not saying what it is he is attempting to care for leaves me thinking he should not have it in the first place.

And as for the whole car analogy....
I'd drive them both carefully because they are mine, but I'd drive the ferrari a hell of a lot faster!!!!!

lets put it this way... who will take off from work because your pet feeder goldfish is not doing well... or who will get pay someone to get there to check it out....

but realistically who HAS a backup responsible party???

we r talking about theory of moral...meaning, idealistically...

i dont get the last part of the sentence but for the first part, if u r thinking economically, then u r talking about petsmart petco fish , which shouldnt happen at all, economy should not involve living animals that much ...cuz when u talk economy, u r talking about money and not the well being of the living animal...

Unless the fish is illegal why not tell us what it is? I'm pretty sure every one is curious. Maybe someone here has more of them and you can boost the gene pool.

datnoids is what i'm referring to . going to be extinct or in some cases , already extinct in the wild. no one has figure out how to breed them, and every single specimen that exist right now is crucial before all of them extinct (including the ones in the aquarium community)

I would pick two. You can always get another job. Put it this way, if it was a family member or yourself that was very sick or dying would you still go to work/school? School and work will always be there, you can always find another job etc. Bascially, there is extra chances with a job/school, for something like a perosn or a rare sih, there is no next time.

This thread has me very confused. What exactly do you want people to tell you? That it is ok to risk your career over a dying dat? That it is ok to risk your job over a dying dat? That it is ok to stay home from work for a dying dat? That is ok to skip a day of school for your dying dat? All these are very different questions. My thought is that if you are going to choose to care for a life, than care for that life. But if caring for that life will severly impact the human lives involved than that needs to be considered as well.

You want either person 1 or person 2 to be right, but every case has do be looked at differently. I'm glad you care about your fish as much as you do, but as you grow in life your priorities will shift to the lives that you support and bring into this world.

How about being prepared so that a scenario like this would not be likely to happen

It's not a perfect world! :grinno: Sh*t happens! ;)

the idea is nice... but realistically it wont happen... no work --> no hobby. which is why we see parent sent their sick children to school... or go to work when your sick.... no work --> no money...
Golden words from a true hobbyist and a father!
