Restaurant Banning Loud Children

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I struggled a lot. A LOT. I never expected a tip just because I worked a minimum wage job. Tipping because you want to make someone's day is a good gesture, tipping because they or the general public expect it takes it to a different level. If I didn't make enough at my job, I found a better one. No one needs to expect a tip ever, that's trying to justify your job is worth extra when it isn't. I busted my *** at a Home Depot for 4 years loaded and unloading lumber, concrete, drywall, everything. I certainly didn't expect the customers to tip me for that work. Some people did tip and hey cool thanks but I never expected it nor did I get mad when I didn't get one.

my faith in humanity is restored a little bit every time I see someone with a good attitude. good on you buddy and well said

I had that exact mentality when I worked those kinds of jobs. the people who I hate are the ones with the opposite of your attitude. the ones that expect it, and are offended by it if they don't get what they feel they deserve. the ones that will spit in food, or purposely make you wait longer, the ones who water down alcoholic drinks.........the ones who feel they are entitled to extra money, those are the ones I can't stand.

yuuuup...agreed. Like I said I lived off tips at dairy queen, but if that jar was empty at the end of the night oh well it wasn't like I put in hard work haha and I still got a check at the end of the week. People who expect tips are on par with fast food employees expecting $15/hour to flip a patty and get my order wrong every...single...TIME!

You know that's where Cali wants to go right?? WHAT A JOKE!!!!

if it's not unlawful for owners to do this, then I guess i'm ok with it whether it's a 5 star joint or denny's since it's their choice and their right. assuming that it doesn't break any laws

Its legal as long as it's applied across the board. They're not even banning families/children. Just rowdy "parties" (groups of people). Don't most places ask people to leave if they're rowdy and disrupting the experience/safety of others anyways? the threshold of what's considered rowdy varies by the restaurants. i just would vote with my wallet if I didn't like a place for their policies.

ok, yea so if it's their right then I don't have a problem with it.

the joints that got backlash was the ones that put out signs stating the ban of "loud children"

if they'd just worded it better it'd probably go unnoticed

If I EVER see any picketers in PA asking for that at McDonalds I'll be in jail within the hour...it takes serious cajones to publicly admit you are that lazy that you want fast food to be a career.

It wasn't singled out to fast food joints. it's a fact that higher minimum wage leads to more money being spent in the local economy. the problem is most places with higher minimum wage have higher standards of living (it costs more for the same exact things in another city). I think it'd be great for more cities to raise their minimum wage instead of letting so many businesses pocket all the profit. Why not put some of that profit back in the employees pockets?

that's pretty crazy. but hey, if they want to then good on them. who am I to say anything about it if they wanna pay their burger flipper $15/hr

it's funny to me because back then, straight out of college I got a job paying only $15/hr, lol

I bounced pretty quickly though

fast food could definitely end up in a fulfilling career. you can start out as the dishwasher, move up to the grill, then to the register, then to manager and one day owning your own joint. I have a brother doing just that

but I know what you meant, lol

I read, I think it was last year, that seattle or some city or area in Washington raised their min wage to like $15/hr. it was interesting. like you said, one city limit over and the min wage is $8/hr
