well she ate a earth worm pellet today and i did my reasearch and i saw it eat in the pet store so i knew i ate i called every place i could think and all i found was a guy who sells frozen blood worms but i asked the guy i got the ray from and he said when he first got the ray it only ate shrimp and he weand it to pellets so it should eat shrimp wish me luck;)
The guy in the shop did you a favour. If he's got the ray taking pellets then your onto a winner, pellets are very good for bulking rays up and generally contain most of the ingredients for a long and happy life suplimented by the usual frozen foods as well ofcourse. For now get those pellets down the ray until hes got good body mass, only then do you need to worry about alternatives. If after several weeks the ray still hasnt gained weight then this could point to internal parasites which will need to be dealt with, prazi springs to mind as a treatment.
All the best with your ray.

I gave my rays slightly soaked with blackworm juice hikari sinking wafers today. Lots of interest in the smell ... lol. They didn't eat any that I saw.

ahh another fail i tried shrimp today and he didnt even budge to sniff it or anything.what do i try next i dont have any worms of any kind so what do i try???????

This is horrible advice! Bloodworms are not great food for them at all. Too small.

87 is a bit too hot. I wouldn't go above 84.
What i meant is that they are a great food to start most rays. You need food to start them to eat more. Like a jump start. They are great for starting but not forever. 87 is for more like medical stuff for me but ususally i keep my tank at 82.

Make your own food. A lot of people do this as a last resort. I am sure u can find some rays recipe for food is on here. No need to cook though. Usually people just get some worms, raw shrimp, fish and other stuff like that.

no, they aren't great starting food. BLACKWORMS are great starting food, not bloodworms (and by starting food, i mean for pups, not mid to large sized rays). two completely different varieties of worms. 87 is very high temp. you won't find the amazon rivers anywhere near that high where the rays are living. 75-82 is more than enough temperature space for them. mine sits at 78.5 most times.

stop giving crap advice please, your name is spot on.

There is a recipe in one of your threads actually, I_got_no_idea ....

Also, bloodworms are not as accepted as blackworms and most people recommend blackworms. I Wish you had access to blackworms.

I just don't hear about people feeding bloodworms very often. They are so small. You could try them and get him to eat something though.

well i caught alot of earth worms today like 10 and he ate all so thats a good start does anyone know if you can breed earth worms?????

Yes you can sweety, I just ordered a bunch to start a colony. Just get some nice soil or bedding and put them in a container with air holes and lid ... The worms I'm getting can stand higher temps, but if you catch em you might wanna put em in the basement if you have one ... I think its 60 degrees or less? Not sure. Google will know :)
