Retic kills owner

i think il stick to geckos, the day my gecko kills someone... then.... well actually il probly be more impressed then mad....Bluey;2344159; said:weird all the houses look the same , well 2 do!

That's why people should know what they're doing before keeping a snake like that-if you can't physically handle it yourself A) never handle it alone or B) don't own it-not that I'm not sympathetic towards the family.

1st off, that really sucks to see someone lose their life over taking care of their pet.
BUT here are the problems i see with the situation:
it is a woman (woman really don't have the strength to handle snakes of
that size)
she was obviously handling the snake with no one around, which in my
opinion a very experienced snake handler not need to do. in this case
a second person was needed due to strength and lack of exp.
and the fact that the woman did not respect the snakes strengths or just really underestimated her handling skills.
here is a pic of my tiger retic (9') and you would never see my wife handling her alone.
I know there are people who are going to read this and at this point be saying to them selfs "what an arrogant bastard, he has no feelings." i do have feelings and as a result of people like the woman in this story i have 4 reticulated pythons. either they don't do the proper research on this species or they are ignorant enough to think with their limited experience they can handle a 70 lb animal with the strength of a gorilla. i really do feel for the husband and family of this woman and wish them the best. this is a perfect example of why 99.99999999999999999% of the people with retics should not have them.

an even more disturbing story that I read was a snake that had gotten out of his enclosue and killed a two or three year old while he slept.
