Return pumps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh, I'm running two DC pumps - for all the same reasons people use them. If not mention already above, most are quiet or quieter.

Waveline 10000II - return
Ecotech Vectra L1 - clc

Read some where that jebao was knock off od waveline. I think for my next pump i'd like to try one. From a quality stand point how do you like it ?

Btw 5 dcts 1x 6000 or 8000 cant remember and 4x 12000's all about a year except for the 2 12000's that were recently set up.

I use one 12000 for water changes 3 are in sumps. The 6/8000 is the oldest and isnt needed for much so a few weeks ago i used it to pump out some muddy/sludge water that accumulated in a huge hole in the lot next door. Figured it would break once the water level got real low and muddy but was surptised it didnt miss a beat and is still working fine

My Waveline 12000 used for my clc died a few months back. I think it was the controller. The power supply still lit up when not connected to the controller, and, the pump itself seemed to spin freely. I've not had a chance to look further into it.
This was my thread:

I have heard from a retailer that there were known issues with folks running the pump non-submersed.
I ended up replacing that with the Vectra L1. So far so good, and may even be more quieter than the 12000 (keep in mind this pump was running inline and not submersed).

The Waveline 10000II, I still use as a return pump. Only time will tell in terms of reliability (been running for about 2.5 years now). I have no complaints if this thing last for awhile.

all good points. Now, as this conversation moves into a different direction, what type of pumps do you use, how long have you used them, and why do you like them? (Thanks jaws7777 for making me think of those things as well.)

Reeflo Hammerhead - Eleven years - quiet, energy efficient, powerful workhorse. 10 1/2 years ago I bought a second Hammerhead for a back up pump. It is still in its box. My experience, based on this one pump, has been so positive, that I purchased only Reeflo pumps for my big tank.
