Returning back to the Shark World with a new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey Matt....I have tried to get ahold of that one company you told me about but no reply. Always looking for a good supplier. I am going to be buying alot in the next few months.

Tank update - I have been sandiing/wet sanding the tank after getting it up to eye level and removing alot of scratches that were deeper than orginally expected. It won't be 100% perfect but it will be alot better and almost like new. Also I have a bunch of special grade reef substrate on the way ($$$$$$).

Have your local LFS contact Living Color Quarantine (livingcolorams dot com) in South Florida. They don't sell to the public but they ship to any store around the country. It's a pretty big quarantine facility everything they import is QT'd for like a month before it's sold, I got to handpick my coral cats & snowflake eel from them. They're the same guys who do the Fish Tank Kings show.

Finally got this aquarium polished back to acceptable. I kept fighting the sander leaving tiny swirls. That caused alot of delay, extra work and drinking . Sand and water going in next day or so.

That looks fantastic! If you don't mind me asking, what tools/materials did you use to sand and polish?

I used an air powered orbital sander with 500, 800, 1000, 2000, 3000 paper/pads then polished it back to clear with a rubbing compound followed by 2 rounds of novus 3 (2 rounds crucial) then novus 1 cleaner then novus 2 final polish and once again cleaned with novus 1.

I only needed the orbital sander to remove some deep scratches the previous owner had from what appears to be sliding the tank on gravel.

Wow that sucked!!!! 600lbs of aragamax select to wash! Luckily used a cordless drill and paint stirrer.image.jpg
