Reverse UGF with a sand bed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you dont need to cut holes but it is an equally efficient way to pull water thru the gravel. instead of powerheads i use one external pump to push water up thru the bottom, thus creating a rugf. also my tank already has a corner overflow attached to my 30 gal wet/dry.

so chompers, do you use a plate to separate the gravel from the pipe, or do u just pour the gravel on the pipe?

so you have holes drilled in the bottom of the tank. arent you worried that when you lose power the tank will drain, overflowing the sump and killing everything in the tank?

no. it is a closed loop system. also have 4 check valves on the pipes. think that will be enough. actually that is a good question. i wonder if the check valves will hold. now im worried

oh that makes more sense

actually if i do a rugf is it still a closed loop? iono. you raise a good point

anyone know if a check valve would hold the valve shut even if the bulkhead is running from the bottom of the tank?

The gravel is right on the pipe.
