REVIEW:Fluval FX5 vs Eheim Pro3 compared

After 3 days running the filter, I'm extremely happy. I have it running at half flow rate, and it's incredubly quiet! It'sa pretty big, si I had to move the door from my stand a little forward. But while Iran it with the door open, it only made a faint hum. I When I ran it full powere, not much different. What I called a weak pump was actually user error! I was supposed to keep outflow hose ABOVE water, where as the 2028's I have ask for them to be IN the water! Once I re-read the instructions, and made this minor yet crucial adjustment, priming was better that my 2028's.. I have more to follw, to be added after tests have been ran.
 
Water is crystal clear...and lots of BB (I hope). For the Pro 3 I filled it with the Eheim media kit and for the FX5 both bottom trays have SERA Siporax so lots of good stuff....I figure if you have expensive fish..you should insure it with good filters...

wow.. thanks so much.. this is by far the best written review on a filter i've considering..

I have 3 EHEIMs at home.. 2 x 2234, 2213

But was curious about getting an FX-5 because of the hype it gets.. Seems that if i do go EHEIM Pros.. i'll save myself the trouble with burned pumps and not so great filter pads..

Thanks for the info.. i think i'll go EHEIMs as always.. :headbang2
 
No one else has had problems with their pumps burning out. That review is not the best. Its comparing bio filtration only. Not flow rates. The pro3 will SUCK! At mechanical filtration compared to the Fx5
 
The Pr0 3 is not a "Giant" by any means. If you wanted to compare, compare the 2262 with the Fx5.
