Congrats on that. It is exciting to see someone working with tetras like this. I am looking forward to the new thread.

evicted my platinum convict cichlids and black skirt tetras, they will now be hanging out in the goldfish pond

Gave their tank to the rhoadsia fry (it’s a bit cloudy due to rescape). It’s very stable and has high flow.

why have I separated them from the parents? Well I discovered that once the fry get about a centimeter in length, they begin eating the new batches of fry, thus I was seeing no new fry populations grow in size. Hopefully I can move each batch of fry into this tank once they are of size and consistently rotate and sell them throughout the summer

I think I have a solid method down and I should have very high fry yield in a week or two

Have 5 growouts currently, have learned that the larger batches of fry will quickly eat up any newly hatched fry. I have a system going now and currently have around 15 more fry hanging out in the main tank. Once they are large enough I will also move them to the fry tank. Hopefully I will have plenty to share with you all by the beginning of July!

Edit: completely forgot i previously posted about this fry eating behavior, oops

I suppose to add some new knowledge to the pool, the females will eat the unfertilized eggs in a rather calculated manner, I want to try and record the behavior but they are a bit skiddish. The male gets very annoyed whenever it takes place but the females will go and pick out the visibly damaged/unfertilized eggs

Very cool!
What do you feed the adults?. Earlier you suggested they don't eat little fish too much.
They are eating mysis shrimp, small granules, and flakes. And live insects on occasion as well as black/blood worms. It is true they will not eat large items of food or eat small fish for whatever strange reason. I have a group of heterandria (least killifish) spawning in the tank with them currently.
