I used Rid-Ick to try and get rid of the brutal ick infection I had about a month ago ( it didnt work... Nothing worked actually the ick killed all my fish except one) and it turned all the silicone glue around the edges blue. Has this ever happened to anyone? Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Cost effective ways, but whatever info you might have would be excellent.

Since you now only have one fish, take that one out,and leave tank empty for a week. Did you try salt first? What kind of fish do you have, and what size tank? 3teaspoons of salt per gallon should clear it right up!!

my silicone is blue too. Damn ich meds! But... I was thinking it might be cool if you made a diy decoration and you "wanted" the silicone to be blue, you could soak it in ich stuff before you put it in the tank!

Well I guess it is kinda cool looking but I wish I knew a way to get rid of it.
Also I put some silver dollars in to make sure that there isnt anything in there anymore. Ill let it sit for a couple months before ill sitch them out and get new fish

I don't like the rid ich med either! Think it kills more fish than it saves... We much prefer to increase the temperature and salt levels. It has worked for us in the past. Just make sure that you don't do both meds and the salt/temp thing. Also, you may want to add an airstone while you are treating your fish so that there is enough oxygen in the water.

I know! It started eating at my cory's fins, but hes all healed now. I have an airstone in there at all times and I didnt use salt. I did combine the medicine and the heat method and I was surprised it didnt work.

I had a tank like that once and the only way to get rid of blue silicone is to scrape it off and reseal it again. It will fade over time, but always will have a blue tint to it.

The medication itself is a strong blue color, and when you add it to the water the water turns blue as well (like food dye). During this process, the silicone will get dyed blue too. It can also happen with Malachite Green too, but I don't see the green soak into silicone as much.
