Got a cool surprise from the Java. I had it on a paper plate wrapped in wet paper towels for three days. Got sprouts! I put them in the smaller tanks last night. The mats sink. Looks so good I might order more!

Yeah, that's the way it always starts...the little sprouts give a false sense of hope...you feel as though you have it made...

...and then later there's dying, and swearing, and composting...

Update on the java. It's doing great! No change at all and green as ever. No peeling either.

Is your Java fern growing as an epiphyte? What is you GH/KH/PH?

Java fern propagates not only by roots, but also by creating new plants on its leaves. I just let it grow, so yes, my Java fern is growing on top of Java fern. Lol. The original plants grow on driftwood, tired on with fishing line.
My water is soft, total hardness is 20 mg/L, my alkalinity is 142 mg/L calcium carbonate.

I got mine today but pretty disappointed with the quality but as they grow I’ll trim the damaged leaves, hopefully it looks half as good as yours!
