I looked up on the internet and it said it has to be "pure" ammonia and has to lack all cleaning stuff.

also the ingredients are: Ammonium Hydroxide and Surfactant. if that helps

:lol3:

surfactant helps stabilize the molecules, the ammonia
surfactant is found in the lungs of just about all mammals it keeps the lung stable and prevents collapse,

if your ever on a game show that might come in hand lol

LOL if i ever go onto a game show hehe.

So is surfactant a bad thing in the ammonia? for cycling that is

correct.

Goldex ammonia has no other additives. all it says in the ingredients is ammonia..

I am curious myself I want to keep some on hand. I found some at wall mart but it got bubbly when I shook it.

Where can I find goldex ?

If you get some soon and everything goes perfectly, it's possible that your tank will be cycled before then. I've seen a number of reports of tanks being fully cycled in 10 days using the fishless method :)

I'm on day 9 cycling my new 112 gal. It's not processing ammonia fast enough, nitrites are off the card and nitrates are at about 10. My guess is it will probably be another week or so before it's fully cycled and ready for fish.

cypher did you cut back on the ammonia? From what I read once the nitrites spike you only want to keep the ammonia lvl around 1.5ppm, not 4 anymore. Someone could correct me if im wrong, but Ive read that on several sources.
