I also believe u are in the right , most people i deal with are in the idea if the product they sell me( fish or what not) Dies or is damaged they would refund me especially if the same week of the deal .Maybe pm a few people the name to prevent such things from happening more?

"I'll see what I can do". That's a red flag statement if I ever heard one. Sorry for your bad experience, and I do hope you get your $ but I don't think that's gonna happen. Your are a very mature person for not blasting this person, I don't think I could do the same.
Considering the time frame in which it all happened, it doesn't really sound fair for you to have to burden the loss of a fish and not get anything back in return... i mean if it happened say a week or two later (once it was in your tank) then one might argue different water conditions etc, but in this case, it just doesn't sound fair?
Then again, i'm still a fish keeping noob in a lot of ways and so my argument could be considered invalid...
